August Central Committee Meeting Recap

The central committee met on Aug 17.  We received a delegation from the Baltimore City Board of Elections who asked for help in two ways.  First, to encourage Baltimoreans to register to vote.  Second, a number of paid Election Judge positions must be filled each election, and we were asked to encourage our members and friends to consider this important role.

As the Fall neighborhood festival season warms up, the BCRCC made plans to host a booth at several.  Look for us at the Pigtown Festival and the Fells Point Fun Festival in a couple of weekends.

We discussed the numerous open positions on city boards and commissions.  There are over 100 city boards that set policy for all aspects of city life.  Volunteering on these boards can be a way for residents to show their love for Baltimore and improve the quality of life for everyone while keeping a watchful eye over government regulations.  Find out more and register interest on the city's Boards and Commissions website: https://mayor.baltimorecity.gov/boards-and-commissions.

Get Involved

It takes many hands to run a political party, and even more when we're trying to undo the damage from decades of Democratic control.  This month's newsletter features several ways you can help, plus a fun social event in a few days on 9-27.

If none of these fit your schedule, consider other ways to get involved -- attend City Council or School Board meetings, help organize and staff voter registration drives, write letters to the editor, help with social media, help organize a calendar of city government meetings, attend your neighborhood association meetings, etc., etc.

Meet us at the Debate Watch Party, our monthly meeting on the 3rd Thursday, or write to [email protected] with your ideas and we'll put you in touch with the appropriate central committee member.

Festivals

Got a few free hours on the weekend?  Curious about who Maryland Republicans are?  Want to learn how to persuade a moderate to consider our side?  Want to learn Republican talking points?

WE HAVE THE PERFECT OPPORTUNITY FOR YOU....Come work our booth with us at the Pigtown Festival or the Fells Point Fun Fest.  A Republican Party booth at festivals draws all kinds of people, both to work the booth and to visit the booth with comments or questions.  Some of our people have been arguing with liberals for decades; others prefer to say "God Bless" and end the discussion.  The more people we have under our banner, the more credibility for Republicanism and conservatism.

~ Pigtown Festival 2023:  Saturday, September 30, noon-7pm, on Washington Blvd

~ Fells Point Fun Fest 2023: Saturday, October 7 11am-7pm and Sunday, October 8,11am-6pm

Tax Dollars Used to Spread Wokeness Beyond Baltimore

Not content with advancing a left-wing agenda within Baltimore City, the people who control our local government and institutions are fighting to spread their values to the rest of the state and beyond.

Parents in Carroll County asked that their schools not stock sexually explicit books.  Hearing their constituents, Carroll County Schools announced plans to review how they make explicit books available in school libraries. In response, Enoc Pratt Library took out ads in the local news attacking the local schools and undermining parents' role in monitoring their children.

Legal abortion is under no threat in Maryland; it was explicitly guaranteed by referendum in 1992.  But how can radicals show their commitment to abortion when it's not under threat?   When you control other peoples' money, you can find a way.  Mayor Scott in July announced grant funding for an "Abortion Protection Fund" to spend our tax dollars with grants from $8000 to $50,000 to support out-of-state travel to Baltimore to seek abortion.

JICE

What is "JICE"?

Jobs - Infrastructure - Crime - Education

This is the core of what we're about, and it'll be core of our messaging going into the 2024 election season.

Chris Anderson Published on Patch

Our own Central Committee member, Chris Anderson, had a column featured on patch.com discussing his view on the city's deal with BGE on gas conduits.

Do you have ideas on how to solve the City's problems?  Maybe you don't know what to do with those ideas?  Maybe those ideas fall on deaf ears when you tell your councilmember?  Here's a thought that might not have occurred to you:  WHY DON'T YOU RUN FOR OFFICE YOURSELF?  We can train you on how to do that:  raise money, speak in public, understand public policy, account for campaign monies, etc.  Have we piqued your interest?  Contact [email protected] or leave a message at (410) GOP-CRAB.  But don't wait too long...the filing deadline is February 9, 2024, a little more than 4 months away.
