August 2023 Meeting

FOUR MONTHS UNTIL THE 2024 ELECTION SEASON KICKS OFF

The central committee met on Aug 17.  We received a delegation from the Baltimore City Board of Elections who asked for help in 2 ways.  First to encourage Baltimoreans to register to vote.  Second, a number of paid Election Judge positions must be filled each election, and we were asked to encourage or members and friends to consider this important role.

As the Fall neighborhood festival season warms up, the BCRCC made plans to host a booth at several.  Look for us at:

  • The Fells Point Festival
  • Pigtown Festival
  • The Maryland State Fair

We discussed the numerous open positions on city boards and commissions.  There are over 100 city boards that set policy for all aspects of city life.  Volunteering on these boards can be a way for residents to show their love for Baltimore and improve the quality of life for everyone.  Find out more and register interest on the city's Boards and Commissions website (https://mayor.baltimorecity.gov/boards-and-commissions).

The committee held a spirited discussion about BCRCC's city platform addressing JOBS, CRIME and EDUCATION.

After adjournment, members and guests enjoyed dinner, more discussion and fellowship.

See You at the Library - Aug 5

Remembering Jay Walton

Baltimore Republicans are saddened by the sudden lost of our colleague and friend Dr. Jay Walton. Not only did Jay Walton serve in the Maryland Republican Party with us but he was also the chairman of the Baltimore County Right to Life Chapter. Whether he was marching for Maryland Right to Life, campaigning for delegate, or simply supporting candidates across the state, Dr. Walton’s dedication was noticeable and admirable. He was a bright light and inspiration to all who knew him. Please keep Jay's family in your prayers during this difficult time. Let us carry on his spirit of service and goodwill as we continue to fight for our communities and our country. Our deepest condolences to Dr. Walton’s wife, Susan, and his two young daughters.

IF YOU'RE A CONCERNED CITIZEN, THIS IS YOUR OPPORTUNITY TO GET INVOLVED!!!!!!!

Leave those kids alone

On Saturday, 1/14/23, several Baltimore City Republican Party central committee members turned out to protest a drag show with children as spectators sponsored by an Enoch Pratt branch library. It was described as Drag Queen Story Hour.

EVENT TYPE

Storytime, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

AGE GROUP

Kids, whole family, Ages 3-5, Ages 5-7, Ages 7-9, Ages 9-12

Republicans support personal privacy. What happens in the privacy of a person's house between consenting adults is the business of those adults.

But who thinks it is appropriate to drag children into this?  Who thinks it is appropriate to expose children to overtly sexual content

Our members did not and spoke out against it.
